Golden Turmeric Latte

Golden turmeric paste:


  • 1/4 cup turmeric powder (or 1/2 cup turmeric root peeled and chopped)

  • 2 tablespoons finely grated ginger root

  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 2 tsp good quality vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin coconut oil

  • Optional extras: cardamon, anise or nutmeg


  • If using turmeric root, place into blender with ginger root and 1/2 cup of water. Blend well.

  • Combine all the ingredients (except coconut oil) in a small saucepan. Whisk continuously over a medium heat until it starts bubbling.

  • Reduce to a low heat and continue to whisk continue to whisk for 3-4 minutes until you have a smooth paste. Remove from the heat, add the coconut oil and whisk well.

  • Place in a small clean glass jar.

  • Store in the fridge for 2 to 3 weeks.

To create your individual golden turmeric latte

  • 1 teaspoon golden turmeric paste

  • 3/4 cup boiling water

  • 1/2 cup coconut cream

Choose your favourite cup (I prefer drinking from a thin china mug then a thicker ceramic mug)

Place paste into cup, add boiling water and top with coconut cream, sprinkle with a touch of cinnamon. Stir and sit back and enjoy.
